Subject Line Best Practices

Your subject line determines if the email gets opened.

Do

• Keep it short (under 50 characters)

• Personalize with name or company

• Create curiosity

• Be relevant to the recipient

Don't

• Use ALL CAPS

• Include spam words (free, urgent, etc.)

• Be misleading

• Use excessive punctuation!!!

Best performers: "{First Name} - quick question" or "Your work at {Company}"

Email Content

Opening Line

Skip generic intros. Start with:

• Something specific about them

• A mutual connection

• Recent news or achievement

Body

• Keep it short (under 150 words)

• Focus on their benefit

• One clear message

• Easy to skim

Call to Action

Make it easy to respond:

• Ask a simple question

• Suggest specific times

• Lower the commitment

Timing

Best Days

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday perform best.

Avoid Mondays (inbox overload) and Fridays (weekend mode).

Best Times

• Morning: 9-10am

• Lunch: 12-1pm

• Afternoon: 3-4pm

We automatically adjust send times to the recipient's timezone.

Follow-Up Strategy

• Space follow-ups 3-4 business days apart

• Change the angle with each follow-up

• Don't send more than 4 emails total

• Include a graceful exit in the last email

Common Mistakes

Avoid these reply killers:

• Too long — keep emails concise

• Too generic — personalization matters

• Too pushy — respect their time

• No clear ask — always include a CTA

• Bad timing — don't send on weekends
